PIERS MORGAN hit out at Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi for “not sounding like a Brexiteer” as he attempted to persuade the ITV host to back Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal.
Piers Morgan ridiculed Nadhim Zahawi, Parliamentary Under-Secretary within the Department for Education, for attempting to persuade the public to back a Brexit deal which is a “betrayal” to the 17.4 million people who voted to leave the European Union. The vote on Prime Minister Theresa May’s controversial Brexit deal is set to take place on Tuesday evening.
The heated debate began when Mr Zahawi said: “If we don’t vote through the Withdrawal Agreement today or tonight then you could end up with not leaving. Actually, paralysis in Parliament.”
But Piers fired back and launched into a furious Brexit rant. He said: “Hang on. No. What we could end up with, which is what many proper Brexiteers, and I’m sorry to use that phrase but you are not sounding like a Brexiteer anymore.
“The real Brexiteers who have maintained the same position all along, they want to be completely out of the European Union, without any of the control valves which are in this plan.
“Now, if it comes to it on March 29, we could – and this phrase crash out I think is actually unfair – it would just simply run out of time and we would move to WTO.
“There would be a deal that we would do. We wouldn’t have no deal, as people try and say. In that position, we would be completely severed in every way from the European Union.”
Piers then ridiculed Project Fear predictions and said: “Yes, it might be rocky and it might be turbulent and, as some predict, a disaster.
“I don’t think anybody really knows, as I keep saying, I remember all of the apocalyptic warnings if we didn’t join the euro and we didn’t join the euro and it was the best thing that we never did.
