The X Factor 2017: Fans turn on Simon Cowell as they accuse him of forgetting own act Jack and Joel after slip-up

SIMON Cowell has come under fire from The X Factor viewers over an awkward slip-up on Saturday night.

The head judge on the ITV singing competition was seen "forgetting" his own act Jack and Joel on the latest live show.

Appearing on The X Factor on Saturday night, Simon Cowell was asked by host Dermot O'Leary to introduce the duo to the stage.

Fumbling, Simon admitted: "Actually I don't know the running order of this show, so I'm gonna make it up.

Quickly attempting to recover, he then added: "Actually I do know, it's Jack and Joel"

Taking to Twitter after the awkward moment aired, one posted: "Simon deffo has an agenda against jack + joel #xfactor"

With another writing: "#xfactor don't think Simon dares for Jack n Joel...slaughters them...forgets their on."

"Simon clearly ready to lose Jack and Joel. Shame, they're fun. #XFactor," added a third.

While a fourth fumed: "Really Simon? You take jabs at them, then pretend not to know they are up next? Why are you constantly going for @JackandJoel? #XFactor #XFactor2017"

After delivering some harsh criticism to his act, fans claimed Simon was sabotaging their chances in the competition.

Simon told the pair: "I think you're popular because you're fun. I'm still not feeling from you yet an act that will work in the charts.

"You're like a cabaret act. You need to think if you're on this stage, you're making a record."

He also stated that the pair will need to step it up as there is only "a short amount of time" left in the competition.
