Woman left fighting for her life after late-night attack in underpass

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after the incident on Thursday morning

A late-night attack in an underpass left a woman fighting for her life.

The woman was attacked in the early hours of this morning and was left with “life threatening injuries”.

Police were called to the incident, which was described as a domestic incident, at 2.26am.

It happened in Darlington underpass at the Bondgate roundabout in the early hours of Thursday.

Durham Constabulary are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting ref 036 of August 10.
