West Ham look to tie Manuel Lanzini down to new deal worth at least double his £35,000-a-week wage amid possible interest from Liverpool

West Ham will look to kill off Liverpool's interest in Manuel Lanzini by tying the Argentinian down to a new deal.

There is a worry that Liverpool could attempt to sign Lanzini if they lose Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, who have had a third bid of £90million turned down.

Lanzini is on a £35,000 a week contract that lasts until 2020 with West Ham but the east London club want to improve the 24-year-old's terms by at least doubling his wage to £70,000 to ensure he stays.

'He knows we are looking after him,' Bilic said. 'He is happy. He has a big year ahead of him. We know his situation and we are going to do everything possible to sort him out.

'He's got a long contract with us but let's be honest, the chairmen always appreciate those kinds of situations.

West Ham have secured some significant signings this summer. They have spent a total of £40m on Javier Hernandez, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Joe Hart.

All four are likely to feature for the club on Sunday against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

'We have done well on paper but the most important thing is if we can cut down the injuries,' Bilic added.
