SUSPECTED drug smugglers were rammed by Spanish Police on the Costa del Sol, Malaga, after a high-speed speedboat chase on Boxing Day.
The astonishing video released online shows the Spanish Civil Guard forcing the suspected drug smugglers to reach the beach in Malaga after they tried to outrun the police. The dramatic chase ended on the beach of Sabinillas with the help of a police speedboat and a helicopter. Then as the police helicopter landed on the beach ahead of the boats, the smugglers tried to do a runner and threw stones at chasing cops.
According to Spanish broadcaster laSexta, the suspects became "extremely violent" as they began to run away, and appear to be throwing stones at the police.
Authorities say they found a shipment of hashish on board, and the Civil Guard believes that the drums of gasoline that the occupants of the boat abandoned were destined to supply a narco boat about to leave for Morocco.
This is not the first time residents of Malaga have experienced such a scene.
Last summer, sunbathers on a packed Spanish beach watched in horror as a police helicopter chased a suspected drug smuggler and his boat along the shoreline.
