A WEATHER warning is in place as powerful winds are expected to batter northern and eastern Scotland later today, with snow also expected across parts of the UK.
The Met Office warned of transport delays in affected areas. The warning is in place for northern and eastern Scotland down to the Firth of Forth. Light snow could hit the North Yorkshire Moors and Scottish highlands.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern forecast: “A windy start to Tuesday.
“Some showers for the north and east but for many its dry and bright compared to recent days and weeks.
The wind should blow away much of the cloud cover which has submerged the UK in recent days, allowing the sun to break through over some areas.
However, it could also blow some showers into coastal areas of north-east England and Scotland.
The Met Office warned areas covered by the yellow weather warning should expect disruption.
