Trump REACTS to midterm elections results on Twitter after House of Representatives losses

DONALD TRUMP gave a very positive spin to the midterm election results, despite news the Democrats are likely to take control of the House of Representatives.

The President said on Twitter: “Tremendous success tonight. Thank you to all!”

Republicans will keep control of the Senate but the House is likely to be won by the Democrats.

Trump previously claimed responsibility for the outcome of the midterm elections, with a White House statement saying the he gave voters a “clear choice”.

Americans are voting for all 435 seats in the House and 35 out of 100 seats in the Senate, a as well as state governors.

The President, who is known for his unique Twitter presence, had been silent since results became to emerge.

It is common for the midterms to go poorly for the party with an incumbent President, but losing the House will still come as a huge blow to Trump, after campaigning relentlessly over the past couple of months.

Trump has headlined 30 rallies in two months and packed out arenas of adoring fans.

However, with a voter turnout surge and a disapproval rating for the President sitting at 55 percent, his opponents have come to the ballot box to make their voices heard.

A number of other politicians have also responded to the results, giving their verdict on the night.
