MARK Francois has blasted the Treasury and Philip Hammond on their predictions that the UK would be better economically in the EU than leaving with Theresa May’s deal or no deal.
During a table discussion with Sky News host, Faisal Islam, The Conservative MP, Mark Francois claimed that they are initiating project fear. He opened by saying: “The first thing is, it is pretty ludicrous isn’t it. That they have produced these scenarios, and yet haven’t actually modeled the withdraw agreement.
“Which is the thing that the House of Commons will actually have to vote on.
“You don’t need a post-graduate degree in politics or economics to see that is plainly bonkers.
“Of course this is project fear, it is a sad fact that the Treasury, under Philip Hammond, has now lost moral authority.
“As economic forecasters no longer really believe Treasury forecasts, because they are so blatantly politically wonky.”
The Sky News host then asked Mr Francois whether he believes that when the UK leaves the single market that will impact certain industries that have a close relationship with the European Union.
