He admitted burgling a home on Cambridge Avenue, Marton, Middlesbrough stealing jewellery and cash on August 16 last year.
Sowerby, from Middlesbrough but of no fixed address, was jailed for 16 months by Judge Sean Morris at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday.
He was jailed for two-and-a-half years in August 2014 after he admitted 22 charges of fraud, three of theft and a burglary.
He did gardening work for a 73-year-old woman described as vulnerable, forgetful and confused before burgling her Middlesbrough home in July 2013.
He later tried to cash cheques from her cheque book for thousands of pounds by asking friends to put them through their bank accounts, the court heard previously.
He was caught on CCTV in banks, bookies and food stores drawing cash and paying for goods with her credit card.
