A PROLIFIC shoplifter stopped off on her way to court to snatch £250 worth of handbags, a judge heard.
Kayleigh Cherry, 29, helped herself to the designer goods at the TK Maxx store, 30 minutes before she was due in the dock for a similar offence.
The Newcastle mother of two pleaded guilty to two counts of shop theft from TK Maxx in Cramlington.
The court heard Cherry first went into the store on April 16 and stole £1,500 worth of bags.
The second theft happened on April 24. District Judge Kate Meek told North Tyneside magistrates court: “It would seem she did a detour on her way to court.”
