Yep, you read that right. There really is such a thing as a summer penis and we’re not talking about your down there's getting sweaty in the heat, but rather heat-induced growth.
We’ve all heard guys crack the joke that their package is chilly and therefore experiencing a shrinkage, and according to science, heat has the opposite effect.
Apparently, the heat, along with sweating and drinking more water to stay hydrated, makes male genitalia look larger in size. Lads, your dreams have come true. The heat is your friend.
Speaking to The Sun, Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and Clinical Director of Patient.info said: “Technically when you're hot, as well as when you are excited, then your blood vessels may expand.
"When blood vessels on the surface are a bit bigger then things are going to look a bit bigger.
"But your penis is not growing, it's just your blood vessels growing slightly larger as a way to reduce heat,” she went on to say.
It’s not a permanent fix, and your package won’t actually be much larger than normal, but it's just the fact that this is even a thing is fascinating.
But don't expect any improvement on your bedroom skills, as Jarvis went on to say: “And no, it's not going to make you perform better either - when you are erect your penis is swollen to the max anyway.”
Which is terrible news. It's really the only downside of the summer penis.
