SPRINGWATCH presenter Nick Baker has lashed out at Ant and Dec fronted show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! as he has criticised the programme for animal cruelty.
The naturalist, who is currently working with Chessington World of Adventures and their new tiger enclosure, has worked on a number of animal shows in the past.
But the TV star isn’t impressed with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Nick said he finds the ITV programme’s Bushtucker Trials disrespect the “natural world”.
The ITV show hosted by Ant and Dec, sees celebrities faced with many fears and includes some having to eat live insects.
However, Nick doesn’t agree with theses trials and said it is “animal cruelty”.
Talking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Nick said: “I struggle with that. I find I’m pretty disgusted, it’s animal cruelty.
“I think it’s pretty disgusting, it breeds a real disrespect for the natural world and we have enough problems in the world as it is without encouraging it in the realm of entertainment.”
Nick also admitted he finds it “odd” people are scared of such critters which feature on the show.
He continued: “A lot of it plays on phobias we might have for lame entrainment.
“It’s about finding someone whose an arachnophobe then throwing a spider at them. If you did that in the classroom you would be done for bullying.”
