Spain thrashed Costa Rica 5-0 in a friendly at La Rosaleda Stadium in Malaga on Saturday evening.

Julen Lopetegui's side went 1-0 ahead in the sixth minute through Barcelona's Jordi Alba with a left-footed shot as being teed up by Manchester City's David Silva.

Chelsea's Alvaro Morata then doubled the lead to make it 2-0 after 23 minutes with a left-footed shot from close range.

Silva then added his name to the scoresheet six minutes after the interval in Malaga to make it 3-0.

He grabbed a stunning second 240 seconds later to make it 4-0 after winning the ball back powerfully and driving into the box to fire into the net.

Four became five with ten minutes to go as Andres Iniesta got in on the act after an assist by Marc Bartra.

There were celebrations in the dressing room after the match as Garbine Muguruza Blanco, the Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player and former World No 1 paid a visit.
