A dad-of-two left in a coma for eight months after being floored by a teen thug has died.

Calvin McLellan, from South Shields , was brutally attacked near a taxi rank in August last year by Connor Jary who later boasted “sent him snoring, hahaha”.

Calvin suffered catastrophic brain injuries and was left fighting for his life at the Sunderland Royal Hospita l.

His family had been given a glimmer of hope when he started breathing on his own in January but the 30-year-old dad of Scarlett, 10, and five-year-old Masie-Sue has now died.

Earlier this year Calvin’s heartbroken mum Susan Douglas told the Chronicle of the night her world was turned upside down and her agony at watching her ‘baby’ fight for life in hospital.

“He was always the centre of attention at parties – he was definitely like Peter Pan.

“That night, Calvin said ‘I love you’ and the door shut, and those were the last words he said to me.”

Thug Jary had already been arrested for breaking the jaws of two men when he injured Calvin on August 7.

Following an all day drinking session, the then-17-year-old punched Calvin, causing him to fall and bang his head near to Mile End Road.

Cowardly Jary then fled, leaving stricken Calvin for dead and taking to Facebook to brag about what he had done while the victim lay badly injured on the ground.

He wrote comments including “Dropped some lad with a dig”, “He is on the floor snoring (followed by a laughing icon)”, “Sent him snoring hahaha” and “Proper freak mate”.

Jary was locked up for three years after pleading guilty to inflicting GBH on Calvin and breaking the jaws of the other two men from the earlier offence.
