Sid James Carry On star last recording BBC attic

In the poignant recording, James speaks about his love for the films that helped make his name along with his thoughts on working with comedian Tony Hancock.

And it features the star’s distinctive gravelly cackle as he jokes about his new fitness regime.

During his chat with former BBC radio presenter Jeff Link, James looks ahead to a seventh series of the hit ITV sitcom Bless This House – a series which was never made.

It is the last-known recording James made before he died aged 62 after suffering a heart attack while performing on stage in the comedy The Mating Season at the Sunderland Empire Theatre in April 1976.
