THERESA MAY is due to release 70 papers on how to prepare for a no deal Brexit but academic Joanna Williams warned it is simply a plan to “scare” British people into accepting her final Brexit deal.
The academic and author warned British people could be scared into accepting any “kind of rubbish deal” Theresa May managed to come to with the European Union.
Mrs May is preparing to publish more than 70 papers outlining the case of a no deal Brexit in a clear sign that plans to cover the eventually of a no deal are progressing.
Speaking on Sky News, Ms Williams said: “I agree with Jacob Rees-Mogg, I think Theresa May was a Remainer and she is a Remainer who has remained a Remainer.
“I think this news that she’s planning to release 70 documents in the next few weeks telling us of the problems with a no deal is just a plan to scare us into accepting whatever kind of rubbish deal she comes up with the EU.”
The academic then shut down claims from Ireland’s deputy prime minister Simon Coveney that Britain cannot afford to have a no deal Brexit.
Ms Williams said: “I’m not convinced that there is no one who wants a no deal Brexit.
“I’m also not convinced a no deal Brexit would be the disaster that everybody seems to be making it out to be.
“This story has come about because May seems to be running around like the general from dad’s army shouting ‘don’t panic’ at the top of her voice.
“We’ve had news that the Government is stockpiling food and medicine. I would ask, what countries are planning to stop sending us food and medicine after Brexit?”
