A minibus carrying 24 people overturned in a horrific smash on the A6089 between Carfraemill and Gordon on the Scottish border on Saturday afternoon, with one person confirmed dead.
Police have confirmed that one person has died while 23 people, including the driver, were taken to hospital with injuries after emergency services responded to the scene of the accident on the A6089 between Carfraemill and Gordon. The crash took place at around 10.50am this morning. At 11.30am GMT Police Scotland tweeted: "Officers are currently in attendance between Carfraemill and Gordon following a report that a minibus overturned at 10.50am.
"Closures are in place in both directions and emergency services are on the scene.
Local radio reports off duty NHS staff were called to work at the Borders General Hospital.
The A6089 is currently closed in both directions causing severe delays in the area.
The cause of the accident is also not known, although there have been severe weather warnings in place across parts of the country.
The private minibus, travelling from Newtongrange to Kelso, was carrying 23 adult passengers plus the driver.
Police have confirmed one passenger has sadly died as a result of the crash.
Twenty-two other passengers and the driver were taken to hospital for treatment.
