A HUGE Russian ship has been detained in a British harbour to investigate a breach in its fuel tank, following its treacherous rescue mission.
The 16,000-tonne cargo ship, named Kuzma Minin, was being redirected by tug boats to a sheltered spot in Falmouth Harbour, Cornwall yesterday as a "precautionary measure", while inspectors probe a breach in its fuel tank. The vessel will not be allowed to leave the port until repairs are conducted. A Port State Inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency confirmed the breach, and a follow-up inspection will be made before the ship can be released. All 18 Russian crew members onboard were unharmed, and the ship still has full electrical and engine power.
