Ciaran Clark left out if Irish squad as he bids to be fit for Newcastle's July 3 return to pre-season training
Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot has been recalled by the Republic of Ireland ahead of their summer schedule.
Elliot has not featured for Ireland since injuring his knee in March 2016, but will get the chance to add to his four caps for the boys in green.
But there is no place for centre-back Ciaran Clark with the former Aston Villa man ruled out with a knee injury.
Clark should be fit by the time Newcastle return for pre-season training on July 3.
Daryl Murphy will also be involved with Ireland after ending the season on the sidelines for Newcastle’s 3-0 win over Barnsley.
The Irish squad will have a three-day training camp in Fota Island Resort on Tuesday, May 23 before the full squad links up in Dublin on Sunday, May 28.
Ireland will then jet out to New York on Monday, May 29 ahead of the international friendly against Mexico on Thursday, June 1 in MetLife Stadium.
An international friendly with Uruguay at the Aviva Stadium takes place on Sunday, June 4.
Ireland finish off their summer with a World Cup Qualifier against Austria in Aviva Stadium on Sunday, June 11.
