It was set up as part of the Pride culture development fund’s community engagement.

Local author Shanni Collins was on the judging panel, made up of Pride staff and other volunteers, and together they picked their winner from schools across the city.

In the end they were unable to decide on one and so the £1,000 prize was split between Cleo Curtis of Hove Junior School and Etain Wedderburn, of Carlton Hill Primary School.

Brighton Pride director Paul Kemp said: “We hope to build on this first challenge to make it an annual event so even more young people get involved, and look forward to seeing what the winning schools will do with the money.”
