POLICE are hunting a road-rage cyclist who allegedly smacked a van driver over the head with a bike lock.
The cyclist fled after allegedly hitting the motorist with his bike lock in broad daylight following an accident in Bristol. But the cyclist escaped on his bike before police arrived. The victim told officers he saw a have-a-go hero chase the cyclist.
Avon and Somerset Police are treating the attack on December 18 in Whitehall, Bristol, as alleged GBH.
A force spokesperson said: "There was a collision between a white van and a cyclist and when the motorist got out of the van he was struck across the head with a bike lock.
"The cyclist then made off on his bike in the direction of St George park.
"The victim believes that a bystander may have chased the cyclist on foot.
It comes just weeks after police launched a manhunt for a cyclist who hit a passer-by with a hammer and stole their wallet.
In November, Avon and Somerset Police launched the appeal for information after a cyclist feigned injury at the side of a road in Horfield, Bristol before attacking a motorist.
The man was lying on the pavement next to a bike when a passing motorcyclist stopped to check on him.
But the cyclist hit the man over the head with a claw hammer and then stole his wallet.
