A “MAJOR North Korea announcement” will be made shortly and sources believe that details of a letter from Kim Jong-un to Donald Trump inviting him for a face to face meeting will be discussed, according to diplomatic sources.
The invitation is set to be at the heart of the announcement, however, it is also believed that a meeting between the despot leader and South Korea leader Moon Jae-in will also be detailed.
Despite the possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough between the US and North Korea, Donald Trump and Moon Jae-in are understood to be unchanged on their plans to conduct military drills around the peninsula.
Donald Trump has given his reaction on Twitter and has Kim Jong-un spoke of full denuclearisation, not just a free of missile tests.
He said: “Kim Jong Un talked about denuclearisation with the South Korean Representatives, not just a freeze.
“Great progress being made but sanctions will remain until an agreement is reached.
Japan has given its response to the proposal of talks between Washington and Pyongyang.
Defence Minister Itsunori Onodera has said North Korea need to commit to abandoning nuclear development completely if meaningful talks are to take place.
Donald Trump’s Press Secretary has said Kim Jong-un’s offer of face-to-face talks will be accepted by the President.
She said: “President Trump greatly appreciates the nice words of the South Korean delegation and President Moon.
“He will accept the invitation to meet with Kim Jong Un at a place and time to be determined.
