HAPPY NEW YEAR! Last night billions of people around the world came together to welcome 2019. Here is a look back at the stunning fireworks that lit the skies across the globe.
In London, the annual London Mayor’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display catapulted the decorative explosions along the capital’s Southbank and from the iconic London Eye.
The London firework display lasted for around 15 minutes and was comprised of 70,000 individual fireworks.
In Sydney, there were two firework displays - one being at an earlier time for families.
(local time) and midnight displays lit the sky over the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Auckland, New Zealand followed suit sending hundreds of fireworks into the air from both the Sky Tower and their own Harbour Bridge.
In Paris, thousands lined the streets of the Chantelise to see dazzling light displays.
Entertaining the masses were Christina Aguilera, Florence and the Machine and Bastille who sang as confetti fell on revellers.
The famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana were lit up with stunning fireworks displays as onlookers cheered the new year in.
