Midterm elections Illinois polls 2018: Who will win in Illinois?

MIDTERM ELECTION day is today and voters across the US will be preparing to go to the polls. Who will win in Illinois?

After months of both Democrats and Republicans canvassing for votes across the United States, voters will today take to the polls for the Midterm Elections.

This means that when polls close tonight, results will begin to materialise.

The future of Donald Trump’s presidency depends on who will achieve a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Both the Democrats and Trump’s party the Republicans are hoping to swing states to their colour and to gain the majority.

Before the election began, Illinois had 11 Democratic representatives and 7 Republican representatives across 18 districts.

Illinois will also choose a governor, an office currently held by a Republican.

There are four candidates running for Illinois governor are incumbent Republican Governor Bruce Rauner, Democrat J.B. Pritzker, Libertarian Kash Jackson and Conservative Sam McCann.

For the House, there are several key states to watch with red (Republican) areas threatening to turn blue (Republican).
