MELANIA TRUMP left her Presidential husband “very lonely” for part of the Christmas period when she left Washington D.C., where he was dealing with the ongoing government shutdown, to stay at his luxury Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
The couple had both been planning to make a 16 day visit to the resort. However Melania left for Mar-a-Lago without her husband on December 21. She returned to Washington D.C. for Christmas day.
According to Politico during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday Trump complained: “I was in the White House all by myself for six or seven days.
“I said stay there ad enjoy yourself. I felt I should be here in case people wanted to come and negotiate the border security.”
The US government partially shutdown at midnight on December 22, after Congressional Democrats rejected the President’s demand to provide $5billion to fund a wall along the Mexican border.
Around 800,000 federal employees have been affected, with many being sent home without pay.
On Christmas Eve Trump took to Twitter to complain about being left alone.
