An adorable video captures the moment a man is reunited with his dog after thinking he would never see his beloved pet again.
Mike Ritchie, of Pennsville, New Jersey, stopped at a rest stop on his way back to New Jersey from New York so he could stretch his legs. He had his two dogs with him, but his dog Chip ran away.
Ritchie went back to the spot on the highway multiple times, but he couldn't find Chip, who he has had for ten years. He thought Chip had died and his family even buried Chip's bone, leash and bowls to grieve.
'I finally realized I'd never see him again,' Ritchie told NBC New York.
What he didn't know was that animal rescue group Delco Dawgs was trying to rescue Chip as he ran around Eddystone, Pennsylvania.
They had been receiving calls about the dog for ten days, according to NBC New York. They worked for several days trying to catch him, setting out food to try and trap the dog.
The women at Delco Dawgs finally caught him and took him to the vet. And because Chip had a collar and tags, they were able to track down Ritchie in Pennsville.
Ritchie and his family took the trip from Pennsville to Chester, Pennsylvania, to see if it was Chip and the minute the dog walked into the room, the dog had clearly found his family.
'We all cried including the dog, the owner and the techs while Chip leaped onto his daddy,' said the Delco Dawgs post.
In the video posted to Facebook by the rescue group, Chip runs up to Ritchie, who kneels to the ground in tears. The man hugs his dog and even loses his hat, while the pooch runs around excitedly, wagging his tail and licking Ritchie.
