Man hit with wheel brace in attack on Whitstable Bends near Herne Bay

A man was reportedly hit over the head with a wheel brace as he was robbed of his wallet next to a main road.

The victim, in his 40s, was driving along the Whitstable Bends from Herne Bay towards Whitstable when he saw a broken down vehicle with its hazard lights on.

After pulling over to help, he was then approached by the driver and hit to the ground with a wrench.

While he was on the floor, his wallet was stolen from the passenger seat of his car.

The victim, who suffered cuts to his face, managed to drive off and later went to local hospital.

Police have today released an e-fit of one of the suspects, with the help of the victim.

He was a white man with shaven hair, around 6ft, in his 30s and has a tribal tattoo on his right arm from his shoulder down to his sleeve.

The other suspect was also white, slightly shorter with black hair, and was wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt with dark coloured shorts that had yellow stripes down the sides. He was slim and in his 20s.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the man in the image or either of the descriptions is urged to call the appeal line on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/033938/18.
