'What better patron for a group fundraising for children in Torbay can there be than our Wee Jimmy?'
TV and panto star Wee Jimmy Krankie has become the patron of a newly-formed fundraising group which sees bikers raisiong money for children's charities. Janette Tough who portrays Wee Jimmy, has lived in Torbay with her husband Ian for 20 years, and together they have performed as the Krankies since the early 1970s.
Co-founder of Torbay Bikers for Kids, Sue Kray said: “What better patron for a group fundraising for children in Torbay can there be than our ‘Wee Jimmy’? We are all so pleased and excited. In fact, it’s fan-dabi-dozi.”
Torbay Bikers for Kids is a not-for-profit organization raising funds to improve the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in Torbay, and, as they say: "Carry out good deeds in the community for others of all ages."
Volunteers with their bikes and trikes will attend events for a donation, and they even have their own biker-themed Santa for Christmas appearances.
The Krankies are appearing in the panto Dick Whittington at the Opera House, Manchester alongside John Barrowman from December 9 for four weeks.
Torbay Bikers for Kids are looking for a local business to sponsor their annual running costs. They can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
