Residents near the potential housing site in Leybourne say if the plans are given the go-ahead, it could ruin some of the few natural spaces left in the area.
There are also concerns about the neighbouring towns becoming 'suburbs'.
A spokesman for Wates Developments said: "Over a year ago Wates Developments put forward outline plans as part of a response to the Local Plan consultation, all of which is in the public domain.
"The illustrative plans outline a sustainable, low-density scheme of high-quality new homes on land which is not greenbelt.
"The scheme could bring forward many community benefits including new affordable homes, public open space, play spaces and improvements to the Lunsford Lane/London Road/Winterfield Lane junction.
"Against a backdrop of significant local housing need, early dialogue with local councillors and stakeholders has been undertaken to listen to their needs, priorities and concerns."
They added the firm will be widening talks to work with all concerned and the Local Planning Authority to help shape the future of the site.
