LEGENDARY folk musician and Fairport Convention band member Dave Swarbrick has died today at the age of 75, it's been reported.
Best-known for his work with the highly influential group, the Virtuoso fiddler had been suffering from emphysema - a long-term disease of the lungs - for many years.
His family announced his death this afternoon, leading to an outpouring of tributes from adoring fans and fellow musicians.
This news comes after his passing was prematurely announced in 1999 by the Daily Telegraph, which saw the newspaper publish an obituary after he was rushed to hospital because of the condition.
During his next public appearance, he told the public as he signed copies of the publication: "It's not the first time I've died in Coventry."
The violinist had to undergo three tracheostomies in his lifetime, and was forced to perform on stage with an oxygen canister to assist his breathing.
