DANNY JOHN-JULES, who is a current competitor on Strictly Come Dancing 2018, has slammed celebrities of today as he claimed they are an “insult” to real entertainers.
In an interview with The Sun, Strictly Come Dancing 2018 contestant Danny John-Jules, 58, revealed he does not believe the celebrities nowadays are “real stars”.
The TV star admitted to being on a “different level” and referred to himself as an entertainer as opposed to a celebrity.
The Red Dwarf actor told the publication: “I’m not a celebrity, I’m an entertainer, that’s the difference.
“I’m a different level. I’m talking about variety artists. I came up working with people like Norman Wisdom, Bernie Winters, Freddie 'Parrot-Face' Davies and Vince Hill and on and on and on.
However, Danny added it is impossible to find genuine stars today and claimed being on a show like Love Island can catapult you into celebrity status.
He continued: “You can be on two episodes of Love Island and become a celebrity.
“I tell you when you know who a star is - it’s when you’re in a room full of celebrities, because the celebrities will be looking at the star.”
