AN empty shop is ablaze with colour thanks to Blank Canvas, a joint business and artists' venture.
Skippko charity has set up a pop-up shop in Goodramgate, York, while its landlord York Conservation Trust looks for a tenant.
Two artists are already displaying their creations and others will follow while the shop is without a tenant.
It is the start of Blank Canvas, a project between the creative charity, York Bid and York Retail Forum to use of empty retail space in the city centre.
Textile artist Caroline Utterson said: "Normally, I'm hidden away in my studio and non-one knows I exist. It's a brilliant opportunity."
Contemporary artist Phil Dodsworth said: "It brings the street benefit because we are getting empty units back into use and we are bringing footfall to the street."
He said the scheme wants to include a wide range of artists and creative activity.
