Liverpool 3 Arsenal 1: Klopp's men leapfrog Gunners into top 4 as Sanchez left on bench

JURGEN KLOPP is adamant he’s no circus act but he definitely wasn’t clowning around when it came to getting Liverpool’s top four drive back on the road.

The Kop boss took a bow after Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum grabbed the goals for an emphatic victory which saw Liverpool leap-frog Arsenal in the race for a Champions League spot.

Danny Welbeck pulled one back for Arsene Wenger’s slip-sliding crew but it was never enough to deny Liverpool a double over the Londoners.

That’s 19 points Liverpool have taken off top five sides with Arsenal now losing five of their last 11 Premier League games.

Glum reading this morning for Wenger but not for Klopp who left the field at the final whistle thumping his heart which had been lifted by a back-to-the best Liverpool performance.

Alexis Sanchez was dropped to the bench as Arsenal went for the more direct approach. A gamble which looked like paying off in the early exchanges as the Gunners drove on for an initial breakthrough.

But just when Klopp appeared to be facing more agony, bump, Liverpool stormed into a ninth minute lead to send Anfield wild in celebration.

Firmino who took all the time in the world before despatching his shot into the roof of the net.

The Gunners boss wasn’t any happier when Philippe Coutinho found space just outside the box and let fly for the top corner only for keeper Petr Cech to save comfortably.

But Cech had no chance as Liverpool scored a superb second five minutes from the break. Klopp’s assassins cut across the Arsenal back line and Firmino found Mane whose first time drive bulged the net.
