Here’s the latest amid Storm Aileen. The Met Office say very strong winds will continue during rush hour near the Lancashire and Merseyside coast, though winds are slowing down inland, and they will gradually ease everywhere.

Blustery showers, some heavy and thundery, will come and go all day. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight: Blustery showers will continue during the evening, though winds will be much lighter. Rain will stop later in the night and skies will clear, allowing it to become quite cold. Minimum temperature 6 °C.
