Dunsdale Recycling Centre on Redcar Road, Dunsdale was closed to the public following the blaze.
Cleveland Fire Brigade were called at 10.53am to reports of “a large amount of refuse on fire inside a refuse vehicle”.
Two crews attended the blaze, one from Saltburn and one from Redcar fire stations.
The fire was dealt with by 11.10am, but the plant remained closed to the public this morning.
Redcar and Cleveland Council said no one was hurt in the fire and described the situation as being “under control”.
Cllr Alec Brown, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “Dunsdale has now reopened after a small fire was detected on site at 10.55 this morning. The fire brigade attended the site and extinguished the fire. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused for anyone looking to use Dunsdale.”
Dunsdale was closed for several hours after crews attended a fire inside a bin wagon on the morning of February 17.
