Jacob Rees-Mogg delivers quip after Andrew Neil claims he 'won't get the Brexit he wants'

JACOB REES-MOGG delivered a quick response to Andrew Neil after the Daily Politics presenter claimed the country was heading towards a Brexit the Tory MP “did not want”.

Leading Brexiteer and Conservative MP for North East Somerset was told that he would not “get the kind of Brexit you want” by BBC host Andrew Neil.

It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May is set to brief her cabinet at a crunch Cabinet meeting at Chequers on Friday on Britain’s future relationship with the EU.

Speaking on Daily Politics, host Andrew Neil said: “Can we agree though that what we know so far and from all the mood music, you are not going to get the kind of Brexit you want?”

The Tory MP delivered a quick response, adding to was not the Brexit he wanted, but the one the country voted for.

He said: “We will wait and see. We will have to see what the Withdrawal and implementation Bill says, what it proposes.

“We will have to see what comes out of the cabinet meeting on Friday and then how votes fall in the Parliament.

“We are a long way from my feeling that we are not going to get the type of Brexit, not that I want, but what the country voted for.

“17.4million people voted to be free from the European Union and for the great economic opportunities that will bring, that ability to take back control.”
