BRITISH MEP Steven Woolfe has demanded EU official Martin Selmayr apologises to English football fans for his 'classless' tweet at the end of the England vs Croatia semi-final match.
“An unelected official who controls all the staff and the money that runs the European Union but he’s not the controller of Europe.
“After all we’re actually playing football in a European country, in Russia which is not a member of the European Union.
“I think he should simply apologise and his political bosses, if they don’t fear him enough, should inform him that he’s actually made the European Union look silly that night.”
Hundreds of fans were furious at the tweet which they interpreted to mock England and celebrate the fact that two EU countries, France and Croatia, made it to the final, to be played on Sunday.
