RADIO star Chris Evans yesterday announced that his wife had given birth to twins – a girl and boy named Ping and Pong. Natasha Shishmanian, 38, was induced on Wednesday morning.
Evans, 52, had called her during his Radio 2 breakfast show to check on progress and the babies arrived later that day.
The DJ took the day off yesterday and the couple’s news was read out live by his stand-in Sara Cox. The statement said: “Ping and Pong arrived safe and well last night.
“Ping popped her head out at 22.10, Pong popped his head out 12 minutes later at 22 minutes past 10.
“Both healthy, both strong, happy and blessed, as was mum throughout.”
They also sent “infinite thanks” to the “amazing team” at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, adding: “Amazing people, amazing professionals, helping dreams come true. Thank you.”
Sara, 43, said: “Huge congrats, beautiful news. It sounded like a night to remember.”
Sara joked that she was taking over permanently from Chris, who is leaving to join Virgin Radio.
