These stunning pictures showing gritty street scenes, dramatic landscapes and human suffering around the world have been included on a shortlist for a prestigious photography award.
The photos are among 100 selected from a total of more than 590,000 submissions vying for top spot at the EyeEm Festival in Berlin, Germany in September.
They include images of the giant, snow-covered Bingham Canyon Mine in Utah, in the US, a lone fishing boat sailing off the coast of Mexico and tents glowing in the dark on the side of a mountain in Japan.
Others show a teenage boy mourning the death of a friend in the Philippines and residents in Dhaka, Bangladesh desperately trying to board a packed train.
Prizes will be handed out for categories including architecture, the great outdoors, photojournalism, portraits and street photography.
