FRANK PARKER, who was widely known for starring as Grandpa Shawn Brady on Days of Our Lives, has died aged 79, following a battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia.
According to his obituary on Legacy.com, he suffered with Parkinson’s and Dementia.
Today, a rosary will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville, California in his memory.
Frank was best known for starring in the hit series Days of Our Lives from 1983 to 2008.
His character was killed off after he gave up his oxygen mask to save his son, Bo (played by Peter Reckell) on a sabotaged airplane.
He is believed to have retired from acting for health reasons the following month.
Frank was in a number of films and television series throughout his career.
Frank’s other recognisable roles include his appearances in Lost in Space, Daktari, Hogan's Heroes, Mission: Impossible and Little House on the Prairie.
In his obituary, he was described as a man who “touched many lives and was loved by everyone.”
His family wrote: “He could light up a room with his singing voice and was known to burst into song at any moment.
