MIDTERM RESULTS are still being counted across several states, and President Donald Trump has congratulated Governor Ron DeSantis before the official votes have been announced.
US residents are waking up to the midterm election results, in what is a big change for US congress.
The Democrats have taken control of the House of Representatives, whilst Republicans have retained their grasp on the Senate.
In a series of posts to Twitter, President Donald Trump has been positive towards himself and his party, despite the loss in the house.
One tweet said: "Those that worked with me in this incredible Midterm Election, embracing certain policies and principles, did very well. Those that did not, say goodbye! Yesterday was such a very Big Win, and all under the pressure of a Nasty and Hostile Media!"
The President has also dubbed the results a 'big victory' for his party, expressing his urgency to 'get back to work'.
He said: "Received so many Congratulations from so many on our Big Victory last night, including from foreign nations (friends) that were waiting me out, and hoping, on Trade Deals. Now we can all get back to work and get things done!"
Now in another tweet, the President has congratulated Governor Ron DeSantis for being elected Florida Governor.
The tweet read: "Ron DeSantis showed great courage in his hard fought campaign to become the Governor of Florida. Congratulations to Ron and family!"
DeSantis won with 49.7 percent of the votes, with ballots in his favour totalling 4,052,118 votes.
Democrat candidate Andrew Gillum was not far behind on 49 percent and 3,996,679 votes.
DeSantis has been in the US House since 2012, and has a close relationship with President Trump.
