The accident, believed to involve four cars, happened just before 5.30pm on Wednesday
Five people have been taken to hospital after a multi-car crash in Billingham.
Emergency services were called to Wolviston Road, just before 5.30pm on Wednesday.
The North East Ambulance Service sent a rapid response paramedic to the scene along with two ambulances.
It is believed four vehicles were involved in the smash which happened between Sandy Lane and the A1027 Bypass Road.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “We treated three patients at the scene and took five people to North Tees Hospital.”
The road was closed in both directions while police dealt with the incident.
It is unknown what cars were involved on the smash and any injuries involved.
