A delivery driver has been stabbed to death after being ambushed on his way home from a night shift.
Kaan Aslan, 21, was just yards away from his home in Clapton, Hackney, when he was attacked, according to his family.
Relatives said Mr Aslan worked for Deliveroo to fund his education but was attacked in his car shortly after midnight this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but despite treatment he could not be saved.
His cousin Ugur, 33, told the Evening Standard his parents and younger brother were woken up by police delivering the news.
Ugur said: 'His dad is a chef, he had finished a shift and gone to bed. The next thing he knew was the police at the door, saying he had been stabbed once in the heart and died instantly. He always finished late and had only just started the job to get pocket money to fund a better life.
The family say they have no idea behind the motive of the attack and described Mr Aslan as 'friendly, hard-working and respectful'.
Deliveroo confirmed Mr Aslan worked for them but had not been on shift with them on the night of his death.
The Metropolitan Police has confirmed it has launched a murder investigation and the area has been cordoned off pending inquiries.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command team is investigating and no arrests have been made yet.
