CHRISTIAN tombs in a Indonesian cemetery have been brutally vandalised and destroyed, amid rising fears of a worldwide crackdown on Christianity.

Mr Widodo is running against Islamist political parties who have accused him of not being a “good Muslim” and secretly favouring the Community Party of Indonesia, which has been banned.

Fears of a worldwide crackdown against Christianity are rising, amid a spate of violent incidents against individuals found practising or preaching their faith.

In 2016, researchers for Pew Research Centre reported Sri Lanka, Nepal, India and the Philippines as countries where Christians are targeted the most.

According to the Pew Research Centre Report in June, which analysed religious freedom in 198 countries and territories, Christians are ranked as the top victims of political restrictions and social hostility.
