CELEBRITY MASTERCHEF 2018 continues tonight, and sees another five stars enter the kitchen. One of them is Stella Parton. But who is she?
Five more famous faces enter the Celebrity Masterchef kitchen tonight at 8pm, including Dolly Parton’s sister Stella Parton.
Joining Stella on BBC One tonight will be Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, furniture designer and community leader Jay Blades, The Bill’s Lisa Maxwell and Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard.
Though country singer Stella Parton has had a number of top 40 singles and albums in the US, Celebrity MasterChef will introduce her to many in the UK for the first time.
Stella Parton is a 69-year-old country singer from Sevierville, Tennessee, USA.
In 1967, the same year Dolly released her debut album Hello, I’m Dolly, Stella released her first album, which featured her alongside other Parton family members Avie Lee, Willadeene and Cassie.
However, it was in the 1970s that she had her biggest successes, with three albums (I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight, Country Sweet and Stella Parton) that reached the top 40 of the US Country chart.
The lead song from the first of those albums also provided her with her biggest hit single, with I Want to Hold You in My Dreams Tonight reaching number nine in the US Country singles chart.
In the late 70s, she had a number of other hits on the US and Canadian charts, including The Danger of a Stranger, Standard Lie Number One and Steady as the Rain.
In total, Stella has released 10 studio albums, the most recent being 2008’s Testimony.
