POWER supplies across Birmingham city centre have been cut leaving shoppers and rail commuters baffled.
A blackout has been confirmed inside Birmingham’s Bull Ring, Grand Central Station and surrounding areas in the city - with window cleaners left dangling above The Cube on a crane.
Western Issued the following update: “Roughly 9,600 customers lost power across Birmingham and we’re working hard to get power restored.
“Engineers are currently on-site but, at the moment, we’re unsure what caused it.
"Also, due to not knowing what the problem is we cannot give a restoration time at the stage.”
While Birmingham Transport Police added: "We are experiencing a loss of power at Birmingham New Street this morning NetworkRailWM and Western Power are working on fixing it, trains are running as normal and it’s nothing to worry about, however officers are on patrol for some extra reassurance."
