Backup Brexit! Ministers plot new deal behind PM's back

CABINET Ministers Michael Gove and Amber Rudd are thought to be plotting an alternative Brexit plan with Labour MPs which would controversially allow free movement to continue, if the deal reached by Theresa May is rejected by Parliament.

This means the UK would not regain full control over its immigration policy unless an opt-out could be negotiated.

According to The Sun, The Ministers argue the UK should sign up to the EFTA for a number of years, whilst a new free trade agreement is negotiated with the EU.

EFTA members accept nearly all EU single market rules, though they do have some early input over how these are drawn up.
